In an interview, Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard Chan said that he is pushing the city council to declare Fil-Am Ez Mil a “persona non grata” because of his controversial song.
Mayor Chan is pushing for the recommendation of declaring “persona non grata” to Rapper Ez Mil after his song ‘Panalo’ sparked controversy over the misrepresentation of the beheading of Lapu-Lapu in Mactan.
(“I’m angry, I’m outraged. He’s making up stories. What is he doing, he doesn’t care if it’s wrong as long as it makes him famous? He’s making a big mockery of our hero who should be respected, not ridiculed.”)
According to the report, there is no record of the cause of death of Lapu-Lapu, who is considered the first national hero, according to historians.
Meanwhile, the rapper-singer at a virtual presscon on Wish’s Youtube Channel answered the question of whether he had a plan to correct the earlier version of the song despite the criticism he was experiencing.
“I do not intend to have a corrected version of the song, because I feel like that’s ruining the integrity that I had within recording it, but it was, you know… It blew up because it made people talk, and I will let it stay that way,” said EZ Mil.
Despite the flap, Ez Mil stands proudly on the lyrics of “Panalo” which reflects his own way of loving his native land: (Source ABS-CBN)
“Tayo ay Pilipino
Kahit anong kulay ng balat
Isa sa puso
Mapa-Tagalog, Bisaya, o Ilokano
Walang tatalo sa bagsik
Ng ating dugo
Isigaw ng malakas ang
Ating panalo
‘Wag nang pag-usapan
Ang mga negatibong pangyayari
Sa’n mang panig ka
Nasa mundo
Kinabukasan na natin ‘to
Panalo!”
