After 11 days of siege in the Gaza Strip, Israel and Hamas have agreed to a ceasefire. According to a statement coming from the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the security cabinet accepted the recommendation to accept the Egyptian initiative for a mutual and unconditional ceasefire.

According to Palestinian groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad, the ceasefire will take effect Friday, at 2:00 am local time or 7:00 am today in the Philippines.

According to Netanyahu’s office, the two sides are still negotiating on when it will take effect.

The official also announced that the Cabinet had unanimously accepted the Egyptian proposal, the reality of which is still happening will determine the continuation of their campaign.

More than 230 Palestinians have been killed, including 39 children by 11 days of Israeli airstrikes. Hamas rockets killed 12 people in Israel including two children.

US President Joe Biden has voiced his support for a ceasefire after eight days of violence between Israel and Palestinian militants in Gaza.
