When it comes to political issues, Dingdong has been an outspoken advocate. This year, the actor-host and his wife, Primetime Queen Marian Rivera, have not publicly supported any candidate. It’s because they’re involved in GMA’s election campaign.
Dingdong Dantes emphasized the importance of this coming May 9 elections in a recent interview. Sa tingin ko, beyond what ‘yung current administration has done or has failed to do, ‘yung upcoming elections is really about recovery—socio-economic recovery, hindi lang ng bansa kundi ng buong mundo. But higit sa lahat, it’s about the future of our children,” he stated.
He also stated that it is the time for Filipinos to vote for a president who they believe would handle the pandemic’s concerns. The Kapuso actor also revealed the three processes he takes before reaching a final choice on who to vote for – plan, discern, and act – which include “sourcing credible information, setting values and standards, and exercising the right to vote.”
Dingdong also stated that whether the voter wins or loses, he or she must stick by his or her decision since it represents their aspirations, values, and beliefs. “Matalo man o manalo, you also have to be responsible of your vote. Kung ‘yung taong binoto natin ay nanalo at gumawa nang mabuti then susuportahan natin,” he added.
He also stated that if an elected politician fails to perform as expected, the people who voted for him or her should call him or her out.
